Public Mural Project
Living Portrait: Richard G. Hatcher
Legacy Foundation Recipient: Downtown Gary Public Art Competition (2018)
I am interested in creating a public mural in the urban space of Gary. The mural painted on abandoned building depicts Richard G Hatcher. The abandoned architecture of Gary contains over 90 years of storytelling. By installing a public mural within the community, I hope to reflect on how the past history connects to the present. I will engage the local community in painting on the exterior wall. The public artwork will empower the community and create a space of dialogue.
